Lightsabers have quite an interesting history, with the dark saber being no different. Being a unique and ancient black-bladed lightsaber, it was created by the first Mandalorian who was inducted by the Jedi Order, Tarre Vizsla. The blade remained in the Jedi Temple long after Vizsla passed, but the saber was stolen by the House of Vizsla in the middle of a conflict with Jedi as the fall of the Old Republic was happening.

The History of The Dark Saber (Pre Darth Maul)

Being passed generation to generation by Pre Vizsla ancestors who kept the weapon after Mandalore was replaced with the New Mandalorian warrior ways, the blade landed in the hands of Pre Vizsla by 21 BBY. During the Clone Wars, Pre Vizsla was the leader of the House Vizsla and Death Watch.

During his conflicts with the New Mandalorians, Pre Vizsla utilized the blade for conflicts – which included his takeover of Mandalore.

Darth Maul & The Dark Saber

After Vizsla pulled off the coup, it was Sith Lord Maul who murdered Vizsla in a duel. This prompted Maul to take the blade and claim leadership of Death Watch. Soon thereafter, Darth Sidious arrived on Mandalore and confronted Maul, his former apprentice. Although Maul utilized the blade for battle with Sidious, Maul was beaten, captured, and taken to a prison on Stygeon Prime.

Prime Minister Almec (Maul’s selection as a public leader for Maldalore) eventually rescued Maul from prison. Once freed, Maul went back to Zanbar to get back the blade from the Death Watch camp. Maul got the blade back, since it was recovered at the site where Darth Sidious and Maul dueled.

After Maul’s return, General Grievous led the Separatist Droid Army to attack Zanbar. Thankfully, Darth Maul had the blade in tow and utilized it against the droid forces (although Maul was forced to retreat).

Darth Maul continued to utilize this weapon for the second battle of Dathomir, the assault on Vizsla Keep 09, the battle on Ord Mantell, and many more, but the blade was stolen from him by Sabine Wren during the Imperial Era.

Considering the information above, this blade has quite an interesting history behind it. Having spent so much time alongside Darth Maul in battle, it’s guaranteed that one would feel the power of the Dark Side in any adventure they take it on. Thankfully, you can do exactly this with your own Ultra Saber blade! Contact us today for further information on how you change the future of the galaxy forever with your own lightsaber.
